Costs

This table attempts to break down the infrastructure costs of the Crossrail project by site. Figures are calculated either by taking the mid point in the quoted value band for all contracts where a value band has been quoted or, where a contract value has been confirmed, using this figure. All contracts relating to a particular site, where values have been quoted, have been added together to give a total cost estimate. The contracts costed column lists the number of contract values combined for each site.

The list can be reordered by clicking on the column headings - click again to reverse the order. Further explanatory notes are provided at the bottom of the page.

*Canary Wharf station is being procured by Canary Wharf Group rather than Crossrail Central. CWG will contribute £150m towards the cost of the station which has a funding envelope of £500m.

The Tottenham Court Road figure does not include the value of the BAM Nuttall/Vinci Construction contract procured by London Underground Ltd which, as well as upgrading the existing Tube station, covers Crossrail works at the TCR East site. This contract has an estimated value of £500m for Underground and Crossrail works.

The Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy (TUCA) is being built with £5m of government funding provided by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills and channelled via the Skills Funding Agency. Crossrail is working with the Skills Funding Agency, as well as other major tunnelling clients and providers of plant and equipment, to develop a long term funding strategy for TUCA.
